Prospectus
Sincere seeker, Are you serious about tarot divination mastery?
You might:
Be frustrated with superficial tarot courses that offer only abstract card descriptions, or with instant mastery mentorship promises.
Have wasted months or even years on unstructured self-study and/or psycho-spiritual approaches.
Wish to learn non Golden Dawn based correspondences - and how to practically apply them to your divinatory tarot readings.
Desire to give free readings with joy, to give back without giving up.
Now, you feel a calling from your Soul to a different path: one grounded in spiritual tradition, magical ethics, and practical mastery of tarot divination, without adherence to one particular system. You are not looking to use the cards as an initiatory tool or to replace your full-time income. Nor are you searching for a hobby. You seek to learn in order that you may serve.
The Tarot Apprenticeship programme was created to be that path.
Programme at a Glance
Focus: The Art of Tarot Divination (Communication with the Divine).
Philosophy: Right Hand Path Western Esotericism (Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Hermeticism, ancient wisdom tradition/perennial philosophy etc.).
Ideal Student: Serious, self-motivated esotericists seeking a rigorous, long-term path.
Format: One-to-one online mentorship, video lessons, and practical assignments (including public readings where applicable).
Duration: 4-6 years of training over 3 Stages (with a 6 month novitiate).
The Feeling of Mastery…
Confidence that only comes from thousands of hours of dedicated, structured work.
Joy as you serve a dedicated niche of tarot querents who respect your ethics and integrity.
Purpose as you cultivate your own flair for the art and connect with the Divine on your own terms.
Gratitude: as Divine messages which you mediate empower your querents with wisdom and resilience.
The Philosophical Foundation
The curriculum is grounded in the principles of Right-Hand Path (RHP) occultism within what is now known as the Western Esoteric Tradition (specifically, Emanationism and perennial philosophy).
It draws largely from sources of non-ritualistic British occultism within the late 19th and early-mid 20th century, especially Blavatskian Theosophy and some of it’s offshoots. We are using tarot as a magical art, not a “magickal” art, a psychological tool, or a psycho-spiritual one. This occult perspective informs every aspect of the training.
An Uncompromising Commitment to Divinatory Tarot Practice
This Tarot Apprenticeship programme is designed to solve the specific problems faced by the magical tarot diviner on the Right Hand Path. You will:
Understand the Metaphysical Laws of Divination: You will be given a clear, metaphysical answer to how tarot works, allowing you to serve others with greater accuracy and compassion.
Practise with Integrity. Avoid Causing Unintended Harm: We will explore the vital questions of ethics in-depth, ensuring your good intentions pave a road to genuine healing for others.
Discern Spiritual Insights From Psychic Visions: Learn to safely develop your higher faculties and manage your aura when reading, ensuring you are not overwhelmed by unpleasant visions or entities.
Assimilate, Not Memorize, The Tarot Card Meanings: Based on principles of modern memory science, you will be taught methods to genuinely master the tarot card meanings in an engaging manner (without the cumbersome rote learning of the past).
Learn in order that you may serve; not for spiritual initiation or to start a “spiritual business”.

Your Mastership Journey: How The Programme Works
Your journey is broken into three distinct stages:
Stage I: Apprentice - Foundational Mastery (avg. 18 months): Building deep philosophical knowledge, ethical grounding, and self-reading proficiency with the Rider Waite Smith tarot cards.
Stage II: Journeyman - Applied Competence (avg. 18 months): Developing fluency through intensive mentored practice, including conducting approximately 400 hours of required free practice readings for the public.
Stage III: Master - Consolidation & Specialisation (avg. 24 months): Synthesising all learning, demonstrating advanced proficiency, and completing a masterpiece/capstone project (such as a tarot book or deck).
Visualising Your Apprenticeship Journey
To make the experience more tangible, here is a look at how your work will evolve during Stage I: Apprentice
In Month 1, your work will be focused on building the absolute fundamentals:
You will be giving yourself readings with the 22 Major Arcana cards.
Your practical assignment might be to perform some 3 card readings and write up their interpretations for review.
Your one-to-one session with Toby will likely focus on your initial interpretations and overcoming common beginner and intermediate issues. Examples include; preparing for a reading, interpreting card combinations, reading contradictory cards and choosing whether to learn reversals now or wait until you have more experience.
By Month 6, your work will have evolved significantly. A typical month 6 might look like this:
You might be giving yourself readings with the full, 78 card tarot deck.
Your practical assignment might include doing a reading with A.E Waite’s original celtic cross spread (among other practices).
Your one-to-one session might involve an introduction to reversals.

Testimonial
As a multi-year programme, student testimonials will be added as apprentices complete the rigorous curriculum. In the meantime, here is feedback from a professional reader who undertook a period of intensive mentorship:
“He helped me get the breakthroughs that I needed as a professional tarot reader... Because of his mentorship, I am confident in reading for a Psychic Chatline that I am now working at. Book with him; you will be really well taught with the world class mentorship he will be giving to you.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Yes. There is one scholarship place available (at any one time) for a student with genuine financial need.
The scholarship student will pay what they can honestly afford of the listed price, minimum 60%.
If there is no scholarship place available, you will have the option of getting your contact details on a waitlist so that you can take advantage of a fresh scholarship place when the time comes. -
The curriculum is built around the Rider-Waite-Smith (RWS) deck. You will need two standard RWS decks to begin.
From Stage II onwards, you will be encouraged to explore other decks that align with your personal practice.
This will include discussions on tarot deck aesthetics in accordance with the Emanationist and ancient wisdom (perennial philosophy) ideas which premise the programme.
This will mean that some decks (such as Crowley’s Thoth tarot) will be considered unsuitable for efficacious divinatory work (within our framework).
-
Yes. I believe that predictive reading is a key component of a diviner's skillset.
Specifically, I teach it within an ethical framework that respects the complex interplay of fate and free will.
This programme won’t just show you how to predict events, timeframes and circumstances, it will show you how to wield the weapon that such predictive power gives you for the good of all and any involved.
-
As some have caught on to, the pro bono reading goes far beyond the extensive practice hours performed in Stage II to develop professional competency.
It comes down to this: selfless service is a core part of the programme's ethos.
Conducting free/low cost readings on the public is not just about building justifiable confidence, developing professional competence and upholding high ethical standards in your public practice.
It has a further esoteric dimension which comes down to the philosophy of Right Hand Path occultism in general. Selfless service done right is a way of connecting with the Divine.
This is not to imply that the pro bono requirement can initiate you into the mysteries. I am not a spiritual teacher and could not be if I wanted to take on that role, since I have just 7 years experience on the path and would be rightly rejected as arrogating my status. But it does mean, I would suggest, that for practising Western Esotericists who walk the Right Hand Path - those whom this programme is designed for - the practice of selflessly giving tarot readings may deepen their already existing spiritual connection over time.
-
The programme combines a credit structure with personalisation and flexibility in the form of 1-to-1 mentorship.
This ensures you receive the specific guidance you need to succeed whilst walking a carefully crafted path to mastery.
-
A full, detailed contract will be provided to you after your novitiate interview. You will have 4 weeks to ask any questions and sign the contract.
This ensures you have complete transparency and can ask any questions before a final commitment is made.
-
The programme teaches esoteric correspondences (including to Hermetic qabalah) in a non-sectarian manner.
This ensures that the curriculum respects your individual path and any specific set of correspondences you may already use.
If you would prefer to learn a specifc system of correspondences (such as BOTA’s, HOGD ones or Thelemic/Crowleyite/Thoth ones) then you may wish to either 1. find a different tarot teacher 2. plan to deliberately study under more than one tarot teacher. -
Absolutely not.
You should only sign up for the trial period if you are willing to take the full apprenticeship.
It is there to see whether you are a good fit for the training, not as a standalone mini mentorship.
