Pro Bono Tarot Guild
Give Free Readings With Joy
The Pro Bono Tarot Guild is a decentralized association of divinatory tarot readers who give affordable (free and low cost) readings to the public.
About The Guild
-
Currently, the only way to join the Guild is to become an apprentice of Toby’s Tarot Apprenticeship programme (my 5 year tarot divination mentorship). But in the future I will open up membership to anyone who wants to join.

Yes, if we define professional reader as someone who charges money for a reading. However, full-time professionals who rely on tarot readings for their living may struggle to follow the Guild’s code of ethics. This is intentional: The Guild exists to promote accessible and service-oriented tarot practice, not commercial dependency.
Guild Members Code of Ethics
The Guild’s code of ethics is as follows:
Service Ethos. ALL sincere seekers will be serviced regardless of financial circumstances. If a reader is unable to complete a service for any reason, they will tactfully withdraw.
Professional boundaries. Readers should use their discretion to set appropriate limits on querent interaction, especially as regards repeat readings and dual relationships. Building clientele based largely on repeat readings is ethically precarious.
Legal Disclaimers. Readers will distinguish themselves from professional service-providers in accordance with applicable laws. This may include disclaimers of providing ‘entertainment’ or religious/spiritual services, and a clear statement that they are not providing legal, medical, financial or psychological advice.
Querent Agency. Prediction is a key part of divination. However, readers should emphasize the querent’s agency to respond to all situations - even when it does not appear from the divination that outcomes can be changed. For example, if a querent is due to go to prison, they can decide how to act whilst confined.
Respect. Readers will not force their beliefs or opinions upon others. It is not that a reader should ignore moral issues such as a querent cheating on their partner. But all topics should be handled with appropriate care and sensitivity. If a querent says they will not take a suggestion, the idea should not be pushed.
Honesty & Transparency. Readers will be honest and transparent throughout their marketing and services. Pricing and options will be clearly available up front with no hidden fees.
Integrity: a reader shall not set up their public practice in such a way that their professional integrity is likely to be compromised.
Confidentiality: Services will be given in confidence between querent and reader except in the case of thoroughly anonymized case studies/example readings.
